Ananda Asitima, Sungai Petani, Northern Malaysia  

Ananda Asitima is located at the foot of the Jerai mountain in Semeling, at 15 minutes from Sungai Petani in Kedah, Northern Malaysia. At about one and a half hour distance are the Islands Penang and Langkawi. In this beautiful and peaceful area Ananda Asitima was established in 1990 as a community project. Here, as everywhere else in Malaysia, you can find a rich multi-cultured blending from Chinese, Indian and Malay.

Today the main activities for Ananda Asitima are ecological gardening and yoga classes.

This project was started by a yogic nun of Ananda Marga, an international organization that teaches meditation and yoga and does social service wherever needed. The monks and nuns of Ananda Marga are committed to their lifestyle, which includes personal practices of meditation and yoga, as well as teaching it to anyone who shows interest. They do not impose their practices on others unless you show interest to know about it or learn meditation yourself.
