Far away from the din and bustle of life, on the Eastern Indian border of West Bengal and Jharkhand, lies 聲anda Nagar, spread over an area of 525 square kilometers and the site for the global headquarters and campus of Gurukula Education Movement. Visitors arriving by train for the first time at 聲anda Nagar are often struck by the vastness of the panorama that opens up before their eyes. The landscape is composed of rolling hills, ancient rock formations and winding rivers.
A scant 20 kilometers to the East stands the hill where Maharsi Kapil lived and propounded his Samkhya philosophy three thousand years ago. Interspersed throughout 聲anda Nagar are small tribal villages where the local inhabitants pursue a way of life that remained basically unchanged for thousands of years.
During the day they can be seen moving serenely over the vast landscape, performing the daily tasks that have been passed down in their tradition, the men driving their bullock carts to market, ploughing the fields, and the women moving through the forest and fields collecting fuel for their kitchen and material to keep their mud houses in good repair.
Gradually, with the development of Gurukula, the villagers are beginning to enter the modern age without sacrificing their traditional way of life through the influence of agro-research, agro-industry, hygiene, medical treatment, education, etc.
Gurukula at 聲anda Nagar with its international network of education institutions, prepares to bring a renaissance of values to the modern society. It endeavors to reflect a new hope, for the world, of love, peace, understanding, inspiration and justice.
Currently at 聲anda Nagar there is a student enrollment of over 3,000 covering 28 primary schools, four junior high schools, one higher secondary school, as well as Academic Institutes in various field.
At the moment the Cakradhuri Complex is under construction. This complex will house the various administration and faculty offices of Ananda Marga Gurukula. Donations are welcomed to support the construction.
